ISSEY BLOCKS HEAT AND GLARE, SAVING MONEY ON COOLING COSTS
This company workplace was experiencing heat and glare problems at their office front, resulting in excessive air conditioning costs. They sought out Issey to provide a solution.
The Client
Freemans Australia is one of the largest and most rapidly growing claims and insurance service organisations in Australasia. They provide a full range of insurance claims adjusting services and products. As an Australian owned and managed network, Freemans employs over 300 claims professionals in more than 50 offices across Australia.
In their Brisbane office, staff were experiencing sun problems and finding their office uncomfortable to work in. Freemans called Issey to provide them with a sun solution.
The Challenge
The Freemans office was experiencing extreme heat and glare from the large windows on the building front. To compensate for the heat coming through, employees were turning up the air conditioning. As a result, staff in the back of the office were freezing while the employees at the front near the windows were still hot.
Freemans was looking for a solution to their high cooling costs and their employees’ low comfort levels.
Proposed Solution
Issey recommended the application of six Issey Issiroll external window blinds. Three of the systems measure 3m x 2.7m, and three measure 2m x 2.7m.
The installation of the Issey Issiroll blinds would drastically reduce the amount of heat and glare experienced by staff at the front, therefore allowing Freemans to save money on air conditioning costs.
The Issiroll blocks the sun’s uncomfortable elements, permitting a cooler atmosphere and a more comfortable work environment for the Freemans employees.
The systems would also be fitted with a Sunworker see-through fabric which acts as a heat filter by reflecting and absorbing solar energy, allowing for enjoyment of the view.
The micro-aerated structure and the regular weave of the fabric guarantee optimal visual comfort by protecting against glare and by cutting out blinding sunlight – diffusing a soft harmonious light.
The Job
Installed right up against the outside of the windows, the framework and fabric of the systems blended away with the existing façade. The tracks were powdercoated to match the window mullions and the fabric colour chosen suited the colour scheme.
The Issey Issiroll systems immediately made a difference for staff sitting at the office front. The uncomfortable heat and glare was blocked, keeping the office cool and minimising the use of the air conditioning. Staff at the back of the building were no longer freezing and the office was a comfortable, consistent temperature.
Even with the systems extended, employees were still able to look outside through the see-through fabric. The office’s large windows continued to make the workplace feel open and spacious, as the Issiroll systems’ fabric allowed for clear visibility through the external blinds.

Issey solved Freemans’ heat and glare problem, saving them a significant amount of money on air conditioning costs and providing them with a cool, comfortable workplace.
Freemans achieved temperature control and ease of operation with the Issiroll systems. The shades are motorised and can be extended or retracted at the touch of a button. When retracted, the systems are protected by slimline headboxes which prolong the life of the blinds, shielding them from the elements.
Issey met its client’s needs and requirements, providing high quality, effective sun shading solutions for the Freemans staff.
